Short version: what you add about your home stays on your phone or computer unless you choose to send it. We don't sell your information, show ads, or track you across other apps and sites.
What stays on your device
Your address, home details, upgrades, notes, photos, checklist, value, and letter are saved on your own device: in your browser's storage on the website, and in the app's private storage on iPhone. We can't see them. Clearing your browser data, choosing Start a new home, or choosing Erase everything removes them.
What you can choose to send us
- The Home Equalizer AI check and the guided video tour. Only after you agree, the photos and silent video clips you pick are uploaded to private storage for your home (Cloudflare R2). With each file we keep the time it was taken, the location where it was taken (if you allowed location), and a digital fingerprint that shows the file hasn't been changed. Our AI looks at the pictures to point out updates and repairs and to suggest a condition rating. It gets only the name of the room and the pictures, never your address or your name. Street photos are never sent to it.
- Lender links. If you make a link to share your tour, anyone with that link can view those photos and clips for 90 days. Send it only to your lender or appraiser.
- Waitlist and contact forms. If you sign up or write to us, we receive what you type (such as your name and email) through our form provider, Formspree.
Uploaded photos and clips stay until you delete them. Start a new home, Erase everything, and Delete my account delete them from our storage.
Sign in with Apple
Signing in is optional. If you do, Apple gives the app an anonymous user ID, and your name and email only if you choose to share them. They're stored on your iPhone. Delete my account and data in the app removes them and erases your home and uploads.
Location
If you allow it, your location is used on your device to find sales near you and to fill in your address, and it's recorded with photos and clips you upload so a lender can see where they were taken. The app asks only while you're using it.
Public records
Sale prices, home sizes, and sale histories come from government public records: New Jersey Division of Taxation, Florida Department of Revenue, Cook County Assessor, City of Philadelphia, Allegheny County, and City of Detroit. We never collect or show owner, buyer, or seller names.
Companies that help us run the service
These service providers process information only to provide their part of the service:
- Cloudflare hosts the website and stores uploaded photos and clips. Like any website host, it processes basic request information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
- Anthropic provides the AI model behind the Home Equalizer AI check. Pictures are sent for the check and deleted from Anthropic's file storage right after. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic doesn't use them to train its models.
- Formspree receives waitlist and contact form submissions.
- Google Maps shows maps on the website. Google receives your IP address and the map area you view.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple, maps, street-level Look Around views, address lookup, and App Attest (which checks that requests come from the real app) in the iPhone app.
- RealtyAPI, if listing photos are turned on, receives the address of the home whose past listing photos you ask to see.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your information.
- We don't show ads or use advertising trackers.
- We don't use your race, ethnicity, or neighborhood demographics in any value, score, or AI check.
Children
Home Equalizer is for adults preparing for a home appraisal. It isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Your choices
You can use everything without an account. You can skip the AI check and video tour, turn off location or camera access in your phone's settings, and erase your home at any time. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email us.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Big changes will also be shown in the app.
